Scar Camouflage Aftercare Instructions

Please follow these guidelines carefully. Proper aftercare ensures pigment retention, prevents infection, and supports smooth healing.

Within the first week

  • Always wash hands before touching the treated area.

  • Keep the area clean and protected; avoid friction or tight clothing.

  • Do not submerge in water, swim, or soak.

  • Avoid sweating, saunas, or vigorous activity for 5–7 days — heat and sweat can dilute pigment.

  • If you received a Tegaderm bandage, leave it on for 5–7 days. You may shower carefully, avoiding direct water pressure.

  • Once removed, apply the provided ointment 3x daily for one week.

For clients without Tegaderm (due to adhesive allergy): allow the area to air dry for the first 3 days, then begin light moisturizer as instructed.

Ongoing Healing & Care

  • Avoid picking, scratching, or exfoliating the area.

  • Expect mild redness, tenderness, and flaking — this is normal.

  • Protect the treated area from the sun for at least 2 weeks.

  • After the first week, begin using mineral sunscreen daily.

  • Do not tan, wax, or undergo laser or chemical treatments on the area for at least 4 weeks.

Color & Healing Expectations

  • Expect 40–60% pigment loss during the initial healing phase.

  • Color may appear darker at first and will soften as the skin regenerates.

  • Full healing and color stabilization occur over 6–8 weeks.

Applying a cold compress may reduce swelling or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Possible Reactions

Mild redness, swelling, or dryness are normal.

Contact your artist if you experience:

  • Persistent heat, pain, or oozing
