AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIons

 AREOLA
 RESTORATION

&

 SCAR
 CAMOUFLAGE

Please follow aftercare instructions, as failure to do so may result in poor treatment results.

ALWAYS wash hands before touching area. Wear loose comfortable clothing to avoid unnecessary friction. Keep in mind that this is a medical tattoo over compromised tissue. It is important to take any and all sanitary precautions to prevent infection.

Areolas: You can safely leave Tegaderm bandage for 5-7 days. You may take a shower by avoiding direct water to the area. Begin applying your ointment after having removed your bandage. Keep area moist with aftercare product for a week, 3x a day.

Adhesive allergy clients will not receive Tegaderm. In this case, allowing the area to absorb and dry out for the first 3 days prior to applying ointment is usually recommended. There will be a skin cleanser provided.

Keep area away from water for 7 days. These bandages make you water repellent, not water-proof. DO NOT swim, soak in a sauna or get into a hot tub for at least 7 days.

No vigorous exercise for 5-7 days as it can raise your blood pressure and cause more swelling. Sweat and elevated blood pressure will dilute the pigment while the swelling expands the skin and delays the healing process. For more melan rich clients this can be a crucial factor that contributes negatively to hyperpigmentation.

DO NOT scrub, rub, pick, peel, or scratch treated area. Continue applying instructed aftercare.

AVOID direct sun exposure for the first two weeks following your treatment. After the first week you may apply sun protection. Mineral sunscreen is my personal recommendation.

DO NOT expose area to sun or tanning beds because your color will fade more quickly. It can also over oxidize the inert oxides within the pigment molecules and change to color result. If it is difficult to conceal from sun exposure, use sunscreen to protect the pigmented area. The more white base the pigment has the more important this is.

DO NOT get laser treatments on pigmented area as the color may turn un-desirable colors. You must avoid waxing, shaving and altering of any skin or hair color for 3-4 weeks after. You must not do any of these things less than 2 weeks before each Restorative Tattoo session after laser hair removal. All other lasers may require you to finish the series of laser treatments 3-6 months prior to receiving and scar therapy or restorative tattoo.

THE KNOWN POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS FROM MICROPIGMENTATION ARE:

Redness, hyperpigmentation, swelling, bruising, dry patches, and tenderness.

Applying cold compresses on the treated area will help reduce swelling and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

EXPECTED CONSIDERATIONS FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

It is expected to lose approximately 40 - 60% of pigment color during the healing process.

After the initial procedure, it is normal that the color may appear darker for the following few weeks.
